Abstract

The own experience of war activities of the ending 18th and the early 19th century led several physicians who participated in these activities to write down their personal memoirs. Among these the autobiography of the physician Wenzel Krimer graduated in Halle is of particular value. It describes the engagement of a physician, who later on obtained a scientific reputation, in the field of military medicine and does not keep back criticism concerning organisational deficiencies. Similarly to the report of Johann Christian Reil Krimer's memoirs are a significant document of that time for the events of the War of Liberation.
