Abstract

A recent pharmaco-epydemiologic study has demonstrated the pitfall of the organization for the treatment of arterial hypertension in Italy. A possible solution of such a problem has been tested in Campania by organizing a telematic network in the Outpatient Center for Hypertension of the Department of Clinical Medicine, University Federico II in Naples, the Outpatient Unit for Hypertension of 25 Hospitals and 250 General Practitioners. Such an organization has allowed a significant reduction of the hypertensive patients admitted in Emergency or hospitalized; and an increase of the percentage of patients with blood pression below 140/90 mmHg.
