Abstract

BACKGROUND: Cervicogenic headache means headache caused by a dysfunction in the neck.

MATERIAL AND METHODS: The review is based on the authors' experience and a systematic search in Medline.

RESULTS AND INTERPRETATION: Various anatomical structures may be responsible for cervicogenic headache, i.e. the vertebral artery or its surrounding sympathetic nerve plexus, spinal nerve roots, intervertebral discs and facet joints in the cervical spine.
