Abstract

A simple colorimetric method for the determination of nitrazepam is described. Nitrazepam dissolved in ethyl alcohol (95%) produces a yellow anion on addition of aqueous sodium hydroxide, and this is measured spectrophotometrically. The method has been applied to pharmaceutical formulations containing nitrazepam.
