Abstract

Fine-needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB) is a diagnostic method in the pathology, it is widely used because it is a safe and simple procedure for both patients and doctors. However, FNAB has not been used frequently in the diagnosis of ocular disease in China. The reason is that the diagnosis of eye diseases (except the tumors) is depended on the physical examination and not on the pathologic examination in most clinical ophthalmologists. Furthermore, the pathological biopsy has not been a routine procedure in ophthalmic diagnosis. The key point of this article is to arouse the recognition of eye doctors, to pay more attention to use the pathological biopsy procedure in the diagnosis of eye diseases. The FNAB is a very useful and helpful diagnostic method in the field of ophthalmology.
