Abstract

Although ballon angioplasty has become a common intervention in vascular disease, long-term success is limited by restenosis. Restenosis is the consequence of a series of interactions between lymphocytes, platelets, smooth muscle cells, macrophages and endothelial cells, as well as their different cellular products. We review here the current concepts and potential directions of future research.
