Abstract

We describe a case history of a 41-year-old woman who developed an allergic hepatitis with massive eosinophilia and elevated hepatic transaminases secondary to clomipramine, a tricyclic antidepressant (TCA) drug. Although drug-induced allergic hepatitis during tricyclic antidepressant therapy is very rare, one should consider this diagnosis in the case of (right-sided) abdominal pain and fever whenever a TCA is used, especially during the second month of treatment.
