Abstract

In brief: In this two-year study of athletic injuries, 92 of 1,232 (7.5%) injuries were to athletes participating in sports that were not their major college varsity sports. Many of these athletes were participating for off-season conditioning. The authors suggest that coaches help the athletes choose an off-season sport that doesn't pose a high risk of injury.
