One-pot halogen dance/Negishi cross-coupling of readily available 2,5-dibromothiophenes is described. A lithium diisopropylamide (LDA)-mediated halogen dance reaction resulted in the formation of thermodynamically stable α-lithiodibromothiophenes, which were transmetalated with ZnCl
