Abstract

Northern Ireland is ready to embrace dementia care as an exciting area of nursing. Northern Ireland has a population of around 1.7 million with integrated health and social care delivered by five trusts. A regional group, the Northern Ireland Dementia Forum, represents all five trusts, voluntary agencies and education providers. This group runs conferences/ seminars and has lobbied for improved services for people with dementia since 2000.
