The 2016 award winner is Alan Poling, who "has used his expertise in behavioral psychology to make unique and significant contributions to public health in developing nations." He received this award for his work in concert with a Belgian nongovernmental organization, in which he has tested and refined the ability of African pouched rats to detect land mines as well as tuberculosis in Africa and Asia.
