• Educators need funding for undergraduate research programs (especially at MSIs) because many students cannot afford to participate in summer programs unless they are compensated at a level equal to what they would earn in a summer job.• Institutions need support to investigate and adopt the ACM Committee for Computing Education in Community Colleges (CCECC) transfer guidelines (ACM, 2018) to encourage and facilitate transfer from two-year and community colleges to four-year institutions.
