It is a great honor for me to write this foreword. As an immigrant scholar of color in an intensely White academy, I find myself in deep solidarity with the authors. As my colleagues and I have argued recently (Philip & Sengupta, 2020), the fields of computing, STEM education, and the Learning Sciences need to imminently reorganize themselves in order to dismantle monuments of epistemic violence that in turn are erected by the incessant tyranny of the White gaze.
