In this paper, we propose an iterative self-organizing map (SOM) approach with robust distance estimation (ISOMRD) for spatial outlier detection. Generally speaking, spatial outliers are irregular data instances which have significantly distinct non-spatial attribute values compared to their spatial neighbors.
