This dissertation addressed the impact of college bridge programs on the retention and matriculation of underprepared freshmen at Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCU). I extended prior work on college bridge programs to focus on them at HBCUs. In this dissertation, I proposed a descriptive case study to explore college bridge programs and the persistence of underprepared students at HBCUs that enrolled in those programs.
