Cadmium zinc telluride selenide (CdZnTeSe or CZTS) has proven to have great potential in the development of low-cost devices for nuclear and radiological detection applications at room temperature without cryogenic cooling. Performance limiting defects related to Te inclusions and grain boundary networks have limited the yields of detector-grade wafers from as-grown ingots of CdTe and CZT crystals, thus leading to high costs.
