Abstract

Staff development, or inservice education, has been a part of the nursing work environment for many decades. Recently, our public health unit in British Columbia introduced an innovative and exciting approach to staff development. This fresh approach involves community participation and health promotion, the principles of primary health care, as well as participatory research--today's vital influences on nursing and health care generally.
