Home healthcare nurse

Berry R, Mohn KR, Holzmeister LA, Walker B.
PMID: 7860329
Home Healthc Nurse. 1994 Nov-Dec;12(6):16-26; quiz 58-9. doi: 10.1097/00004045-199411000-00003.

This article is a brief overview of the incidence, classification, and diagnosis of diabetes mellitus. Current concepts of diabetes management, including nutrition, exercise, and medication, are introduced.

Format-independent polarization-demultiplexing technique for dual-polarization intensity modulated signals.

Applied optics

Ó Dúill SP, Barry LP.
PMID: 26974626
Appl Opt. 2016 Mar 01;55(7):1658-62. doi: 10.1364/AO.55.001658.

We show through simulations how polarization demultiplexing of dual-polarization, intensity modulated signals of arbitrary format can be performed by only using the information in Stokes space. The technique would be applicable for short-range communications within data centers.

Adipose Tissue Residing Progenitors (Adipocyte Lineage Progenitors and Adipose Derived Stem Cells (ADSC).

Current molecular biology reports

Berry R, Rodeheffer MS, Rosen CJ, Horowitz MC.
PMID: 26526875
Curr Mol Biol Rep. 2015 Sep;1(3):101-109. doi: 10.1007/s40610-015-0018-y. Epub 2015 Jul 12.

The formation of brown, white and beige adipocytes have been a subject of intense scientific interest in recent years due to the growing obesity epidemic in the United States and around the world. This interest has led to the...

Frequency noise reduction performance of a feed-forward heterodyne technique: application to an actively mode-locked laser diode.

Optics letters

Sahni MO, Trebaol S, Bramerie L, Joindot M, Ó Dúill SP, Murdoch SG, Barry LP, Besnard P.
PMID: 28957182
Opt Lett. 2017 Oct 01;42(19):4000-4003. doi: 10.1364/OL.42.004000.

We report on the frequency noise reduction performance of a feed-forward technique. The Letter is based on frequency noise measurements that allow the spectral response of the feed-forward phase noise correction to be determined. The main limitation to the...

The old pillars of new retailing.

Harvard business review

Berry LL.
PMID: 11299689
Harv Bus Rev. 2001 Apr;79(4):131-7, 170.

Despite the harsh realities of retailing, the illusion persists that magical tools can help companies overcome the problems of fickle consumers, price-slashing competitors, and mood swings in the economy. Such wishful thinking holds that retailers will thrive if only...

ENHANCEMENT OF SALMONELLOSIS AND EMERGENCE OF SECONDARY INFECTION IN MICE EXPOSED TO COLD.

Journal of bacteriology

Miraglia GJ, Berry LJ.
PMID: 16561977
J Bacteriol. 1962 Dec;84(6):1173-80. doi: 10.1128/jb.84.6.1173-1180.1962.

Compositional and structural control in bone regenerative coatings.

Journal of materials science. Materials in medicine

Haddow DB, Thompson MS, Berry SR, Czernuszka JT.
PMID: 15348154
J Mater Sci Mater Med. 1999 Apr;10(4):219-22. doi: 10.1023/a:1008906128187.

The development of a low-temperature method of producing bioactive coatings for medical implants has been shown to bypass the problems associated with high temperature processing routes, in particular the appearance of amorphous phases and non-stoichiometric hydroxyapatite (HA), and delamination...

Charging process and Coulomb-force-directed printing of nanoparticles with sub-100-nm lateral resolution.

Nano letters

Barry CR, Gu J, Jacobs HO.
PMID: 16218741
Nano Lett. 2005 Oct;5(10):2078-84. doi: 10.1021/nl0511972.

This article reports on a new charging process and Coulomb-force-directed assembly of nanoparticles onto charged surface areas with sub-100-nm resolution. The charging is accomplished using a flexible nanostructured thin silicon electrode. Electrical nanocontacts have been created as small as...

Complete pulse characterization at 1.5 mum by cross-phase modulation in optical fibers.

Optics letters

Thomson MD, Dudley JM, Barry LP, Harvey JD.
PMID: 18091851
Opt Lett. 1998 Oct 15;23(20):1582-4. doi: 10.1364/ol.23.001582.

Cross-phase modulation in optical fibers has been used for complete characterization of ultrashort pulses by a modified frequency-resolved optical gating (FROG) measurement technique. This technique has been used for characterization of picosecond pulses at 1.5mum with energy as low...

Management of post cholecystectomy Mirizzi's syndrome.

Journal of minimal access surgery

Janes S, Berry L, Dijkstra B.
PMID: 21234142
J Minim Access Surg. 2005 Mar;1(1):34-6. doi: 10.4103/0972-9941.15244.

Various strategies have been proposed for the management of retained calculi within the biliary tree following cholecystectomy. We present a unique case of a cystic duct remnant calculus causing Mirizzi syndrome, only the fourth such case of its kind....

Small LiF Prism Spectrometer for Space Applications.

Applied optics

Moos HW, Vitz RC, Barry JR, Buckley JL.
PMID: 20076247
Appl Opt. 1970 Mar 01;9(3):601-3. doi: 10.1364/AO.9.000601.

A small LiF prism constant deviation spectrometer of the Czerny-Turner type is described. The transmission in the vacuum uv is at least twice that of a typical Ebert plane grating spectrometer. Although designed for planetary astronomy, it is also...
