Going beyond red with a tri- and tetracoordinate boron conjugate: intriguing near-IR optical properties and applications in anion sensing.

Inorganic chemistry

Sarkar SK, Mukherjee S, Thilagar P.
PMID: 24520954
Inorg Chem. 2014 Mar 03;53(5):2343-5. doi: 10.1021/ic402441w. Epub 2014 Feb 13.

The design and synthesis of a new tri- and tetracoordinate boron conjugate is reported. The conjugate shows broad near-IR emission (∼625-850 nm) and is found to be a selective colorimetric and ratiometric sensor for fluoride ions.

Triarylborane conjugated dicyanovinyl chromophores: intriguing optical properties and colorimetric anion discrimination.

PMID: 26509424
Phys Chem Chem Phys. 2015 Nov 11;17(45):30424-32. doi: 10.1039/c5cp05378a.

Three new triarylborane conjugated dicyanovinyl chromophores (Mes2B-π-donor-DCV); donor: N-methyldiphenylamine () and triphenylamine ( and [with two BMes2 substitutions]) of type A-D-A (acceptor-donor-acceptor) are reported. Compounds exhibit intense charge transfer (CT) absorption bands in the visible region. These absorption peaks...

Multichannel-emissive V-shaped boryl-BODIPY dyads: synthesis, structure, and remarkably diverse response toward fluoride.

Inorganic chemistry

Inorg Chem. 2014 May 19;53(10):4813-23. doi: 10.1021/ic402470a. Epub 2014 May 06.

Three new V-shaped boryl-BODIPY dyads (1-3) were synthesized and structurally characterized. Compounds 1-3 are structurally close molecular siblings differing only in the number of methyl substituents on the BODIPY moiety that were found to play a major role in...

Inorganic-cored photoactive assemblies: synthesis, structure, and photochemical investigations on stannoxane-supported multifluorene compounds.

Chemistry (Weinheim an der Bergstrasse, Germany)

Chandrasekhar V, Thilagar P, Steiner A, Bickley JF.
PMID: 16952130
Chemistry. 2006 Nov 24;12(34):8847-61. doi: 10.1002/chem.200600556.

Organostannoxanes were used as inert supports for the preparation of multichromophore assemblies. The synthesis involves a single-step procedure and allows the preparation of compounds in which the number of chromophore units can be varied from one to six. Thus,...

We investigate the influence of phonon mediated interactions on the non-unitary evolution of geometrical phases in excitonic qubits formed in quantum dots entangled by pure Förster coupling. We consider decoherence to occur via acoustic phonons interacting through the deformation...

Invertebrates are dependent on cellular and humoral immune defences against microbial infection. Scylla paramamosain is an important commercial species, but the fundamental knowledge on its immune defense related to the antioxidant and immune-associated reactions is still lacking. The study...

Molecular flexibility tuned emission in "V" shaped naphthalimides: Hg(II) detection and aggregation-induced emission enhancement (AIEE).

Chemical communications (Cambridge, England)

PMID: 23846300
Chem Commun (Camb). 2013 Aug 25;49(66):7292-4. doi: 10.1039/c3cc43351j.

Four "V" shaped 1,8-naphthalimides (1-4) have been synthesized and their fluorescence quantum-yields correlated to their molecular flexibility. The correlation was used for detection of Hg(II) via a chemodosimetric approach. was found to be an AIE active molecule with the...
